Virtual Assistants
So I was doing some blog readings and came across a few posts that sparked my interest talking about Virtual Assistants. So I figured I would Wiki who these people are.... the wiki definition below is... Virtual assistant From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ""A Virtual Assistant (or simply VA), is an independent contractor providing administrative, technical, or sometimes creative assistance to clients--usually to other independent entrepreneurs and solo and small business practices, such as that of a lawyer or Realtor. Virtual assistants work from their own office (hence "virtual"), thus making it a fairly popular (and growing) profession. It is estimated that there are about 5,000-8,000 virtual assistants worldwide. Common modes of communication and data delivery include the Internet, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and fax machine. Although the occupation gives a degree of independence, work is on a contractual basis, and a long-lasting cooperation is standard. Typically 5 years of administrative experience in an office is expected at such positions as executive assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, real estate assistant, office manager, etc.""" Ok so these people work at home and mainly do most of dirty work in keeping up with blogs, websites, leads, phone calls basically anything administrative right. What struck me was WOW I can't believe I haven't thought about this idea before, I mean basically I do all this stuff previously and currently for family and clients. I help with their blogs, SEO, SEM, websites, e-mails etc....lol I even did it for a living for a little while while working at homes.com. Well kudos for them Im not going to take away their glory, heck I might even do this on my off time. Thinking about it I would get lots of feedback and responses from Realtor's all the time with sayings like this... "I don't have time to keep up my online presence" "I don't even know where or how to begin something like that" "Its too confusing to keep up" It all makes sense. We pay credit repair companies to repair our credit reports whether we don't know how to or don't have the time to do it. We pay little kids to mow our lawn because we are to lazy to do it even though we perfectly are capable of doing so :) We pay people to wash our cars and again because we don't want to do it or want a professional shine...all points are about the same thing. * Don't know how to * Too busy to do * Time is money * Want it done professionally * Doesn't want to keep up the research for online presence So I decided to dig deeper. Found some of AR members actively promoting these services and seen some great feedback as well. I was reading one of Sarah's post on activerain and thought ok this makes sense, it's not that expensive and I wonder how many people think so too. So I did some research and on http://www.retrends.com [ A Real Estate Trends Articles ] I found an interesting post for you Realtors out there and any other profession who might think so too The article is named Five Solutions for Realtors to Increase Productivity in a Down Market found here http://www.retrends.com/real_estate_trends_articles.asp?mode=article&articleid=88 The #4 is using Virtual Assistants :) Well I thought this was very interestingly guess VA's are getting some attention, kudos ! As far me you say? No I don't plan on using a Virtual Assistant now or in the future but I would recommend one if you are the type who doesn't have the time or motivation to keep up with your online presence. |
